Welcome to
Cooma North Preschool

Connect . Nurture . Play

Cooma North Preschool is proud to have received an overall rating of Exceeding National Standard under the Department of Education's Assessment and Rating process.

At the Cooma North Preschool we aim to create a secure environment in which children will develop a happy and positive attitude towards learning. We value children as competent learners who learn best through active involvement with their environment and their relationships with others

Strengths of the preschool:

  • Three University trained Early Childhood Teachers guide the educational program to support quality outcomes for children.

  • Management value and support higher than required numbers of staff to children ratio each day.

  • Through our Reconciliation Action Plan we will continue to promote relationships, respect and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non indigenous people to come together and learn from each other in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  • Cooma North Preschool recognises the importance of promoting positive mental health in children and their families. We are guided by the Be You Early Learning Program which empowers educators to develop valuable mental health skills and knowledge, while also providing an effective model for implementing a whole-learning community approach to mental health and well-being.

  • Our outdoor learning environment is a large natural play space which is rich in learning opportunities including well established trees, chickens, digging pits, running creek bed, bush tucker garden, vegetable and herb patch, fruit trees and bike path.

  • Oldest preschool in Cooma established in 1952.

Cooma North Preschool acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. Our Preschool is situated on Ngarigo Country and we pay our respects to them and their culture, and to the elders both past, present and emerging. Each morning our children and staff pay respect to the Ngarigo people in our own way:
’Cooma North Preschool say thank you to the Ngarigo people for sharing and looking after the land where we play and learn. We promise to always take care of the land, the animals and each other’.
